On Sunday 4th May 2025, Titchfield came alive for the much-anticipated Titchfield May Fayre, a celebration to remember! The village was bursting with colour, music, crafts, classic cars, and smiling faces, as what felt like the whole community of Titchfield came together to celebrate this cherished annual tradition.

A Warm Welcome from Local Leaders

The day was officially opened by Councillor Connie Hockley, who gave a welcoming speech to mark the start of the festivities. Among the familiar faces in the crowd were current MP Paul Holmes, Councillor Tiffany Harper, and Sir Peter Lloyd, Fareham's MP from 1979–2001 — all showing their support for this wonderful community event.

A Parade Full of Character and Charm

As ever, the much-loved parade did not disappoint. Crowds lined the streets to enjoy a vibrant procession featuring:

Crafts, Activities, and Fun for All

Barry’s Meadow was transformed into a bustling fairground of activity — including the chance to try on 17th Century armour and hold a pike, a dog show and gundog training performance from FernsPath, vintage double-decker bus tours around the village, bubble shows, a raffle draw, tug of war, and plenty of games dotted around Barry’s Meadow.

Plenty of Stalls to Explore

Barry’s Meadow was filled with activity with a variety of stalls to visit. Talented craftspeople showcased beautiful handmade goods, including woodwork, jewellery, printed artwork and textiles. Local bakers and food vendors displayed sweet treats, savoury pasties and local honey. There were also stalls hosted by passionate local organisations, charities, and community groups, raising awareness for important causes and giving residents the chance to learn more about village life and how to get involved.

Music, Shanties, and a Tug of War Showdown

Later in the afternoon, the village was filled with the sound of the ever-popular Titchfield Whalers Shanty Group and the wonderful Solent Community Choir.

The day ended with a fiercely competitive and much-anticipated tug of war, pitting boys against girls, and the girls claimed the trophy for the second year running!

Did you know? This annual Titchfield celebration dates back over 100 years, with the much-loved Titchfield Carnival, once run by The Bonfire Boys. It was a highlight of the local calendar, drawing crowds from miles around with its grand floats, parades, and festivities, until it came to an end in 2010.

Today’s May Fayre started in 2022, to proudly celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, and carry on that spirit of community celebration. The following year, another Fayre was held for the Coronation of King Charles III in May 2023, followed by another successful 2024 May Fayre, and that brings us to 2025!

A Heartfelt Thank You

It was truly fantastic to see so many happy faces enjoying a day of sunshine, music, history, and local pride. Events like this wouldn’t be possible without the tireless work of volunteers, organisers, and supporters. A massive thank you to the entire May Fayre team, whose dedication made this special day one to remember. We're looking forward to another brilliant May Fayre in 2026!
