  • Titchfield Village Fayre started in its current format to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. This was so well received that people said it should happen every year. The following year, another fayre was held for the Coronation of King Charles III in May 2023.

The village used to have a very successful annual carnival, which was run for many years by The Bonfire Boys. Unfortunately, this all came to an end after over 100 years in 2010. The carnival was a traditional spectacle with floats, vintage cars, fun fairs, and stalls and attracted people from miles around.

The village mourned the loss of this event, and in 2022, the drive for community gatherings in celebration of the Jubilee prompted a group of volunteers to run a fayre with a nod to the carnival. This fayre was very successful, and as a result, a group of volunteers formed The Titchfield Village Events Committee to organise the event annually.

The Village Fayre is much smaller than the original spectacle but does provide a parade through the village with marching bands, vintage vehicles, dancers, and children dressed up to reflect the theme for the year. It is no longer possible to parade large floats, but the tradition is kept alive with small decorated trailers.

The parade collects on Barry’s Meadow, where the fayre proper is gathered with stalls and entertainment. As with the original event, all of the proceeds are donated to local charities and societies.

  • Solent Stitchers, a group of 50 ladies who've been meeting at the Village Hall twice a month for the last 30 years, were among the earliest donors to the Roof Fund.  As the Village Hall has been our "home" for such a long time, it seemed a good move to become affiliated to TVT and we're all keen to foster closer links with the village.

To that end we have already planned for our 2026 programme to make a quilt to be raffled at the May Fayre, helping to raise more funds for local groups and organisations. We're taking the Fayre theme of "Mad Hatter's Tea Party" for our design - and anyone who's dropped in at the Hall during one of our sewing sessions will know it's an apt subject for us:  we drink a lot of tea and coffee, eat cake and talk a lot!

Many local people will have seen the range of our needlework at our recent Quilt Show so we're hoping lots of visitors to the May Fayre will call in at the Hall for tea, coffee and cake and buy tickets to win our raffle quilt. Later in the year we will be having a couple of day-long sessions of making quilts for the Linus Project, which donates cot and bed quilts to children in hospital, and we continue to produce heart cushions and drain bags for breast cancer patients.

We're always happy to welcome visitors, we meet on the first and third Tuesday of the month from 10-12.

  • We are a group of crocheters and knitters who work together to decorate the village post box and bollards. We also decorate at Christmas and special occasions such as Remembrance Day, we created the poppy splay that hangs outside the Village Hall every year. We also help during the Village May Fayre.

There are always projects in progress which yarn crafters of all abilities can contribute to.  Past projects have included a fabulous flower cascade hung from St Peter’s bell tower and a 66 mouse trail for children to find and enjoy.

We are a welcoming and friendly group that meets in the Village Hall on a Thursday afternoon.

We have the yarn, needles, hooks and ideas, simply asking for a £2 donation towards refreshments and hall hire.

  • The Titchfield Gardeners’ Club celebrates it’s 40th Anniversary in 2026 and has been a popular, well attended club in the community for the entire duration, aiming to continue to thrive for many more years to come. To quote from our constitution, the club’s aims are to encourage and support an interest in gardening among members;  organise gardening-related activities such as talks, workshops, competitions and visits;  promote a sense of community among local gardeners.

We meet at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start on the 1st Wednesday of each month, incorporating 8 talks, a quiz, a Christmas social, a picnic/visit and the AGM/spring show. In addition, we intersperse monthly activities with extra visits and workshops, usually at the invitation of our speakers. An annual Autumn show has members showing off their best efforts in the hope of securing one or more of the numerous trophies on offer, and of course provide a magnificent show for the local community to admire. The Spring sale in April gives members and residents in the community the opportunity to acquire locally grown plants at bargain prices.

The Titchfield Gardeners’ Clubvery much looks forward to working alongside and supporting the other village groups to bring together the people of Titchfield, keeping the “Titchfield Spirit” alive.
